MASTER THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF MUSICAL THEATRE PREPRARATION AND PERFORMANCE

MUSICALS are back on TV (GLEE), Film (MAMMA MIA), Stage (JERSEY BOYS), The Web (DOCTOR HORRIBLE’S SING ALONG BLOG), Burlesque (Kitty Nights at the Biltmore) and Cabaret (Candy Girl Cabaret).

At some point YOU WILL be asked to “SING” on stage, or in front of the camera. Here is the FORUM to work through MUSICAL MATERIAL in a safe and challenging room.

CONNECT TO THE STORY

- work on the "thinking" behind the song
- speak through the song as monologue
- connect to the song through your breath, relaxation and imagination

PREPARE YOUR MUSICAL AUDITION

- choosing your piece
- preparing the material needed (sheet music etc) and dialoguing with the accompanist’
- performing the audition/the lead up to walking into the room and the encouragement to re- train yourself to focus on what serves you.

Christopher Shyer is a Leo Award Winner and a Jessie Nominee. For over two decades, Christopher has garnered an extremely wide range of credits in Film, Theatre and Television. Co-starring with Diane Lane and Donald Sutherland in Fierce People, supporting Andy Garcia in Lazarus Child and Angelina Jolie in Life or Something Like It. Currently he is playing Marcus in the re-imagined re-make of “V” for ABC/Warner Bro. He has worked across Canada in theater from New Brunswick to Vancouver and last year he made his Broadway debut as Sam in Mamma Mia. He also starred as Dean Newhouse in Going Down Swingin’ for the 2007 NY Music Theater Festival. His television work include starring and guest-starring roles in: Killer Hair, Whistler, CSI:Miami, Without A Trace, the Unauthorized Story of Three’s Company, Monk, the Practice, Nuremberg and the Chris Isaak Show, among many others. He was also a Co-Producer and starred in “Awkward” a short film written and Directed by Kellie Benz and Co-Produced the “Into the Woods” Benefit Concert that helped to raise funds for the Stanley Park Ecology Society.
