COMEDY is back.

Both the one camera comedy and the traditional three-camera SIT-COM are back in full-swing this pilot season. Pilots like "AWKWARD SITUATIONS FOR MEN",  "MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED", "MEN ARE STUPID - WOMEN ARE CRAZY", "THE PINK HOUSE" and many more are searching in Los Angeles and Vancouver.

Comedy takes hard work. Off book, playing off the partner, living the emotional circumstrances, and finding the moments AREN'T enough. Because great comedy doesn't only come from great acting. Funny work comes from well-educated acting. Know comedic scene analysis.  Absorb comic scene structure. Play the rules of sit-com analysis (the rule of threes, the hard-switch, and the play-against). Knowledge and practice give the comedic actor the key to great funny acting: to let go and let the moments be spontaneous...right on cue.
 
And...oh, yeah...timing.

The SIT COM/COMEDY WEEKEND INTENSIVE prepares actors for their comedy tapings and auditions working from sides culled from the most recent comedy pilot which will be given in advance. All auditions will be taped and made available on line. As well as investigating approach to comedy, actors will also explore comedy archetypes and the perfect comic character to suit their specific branding.
 
Matthew Harrison has coached actors specifically in sit-com in Los Angeles and Vancouver like Colbie Smulders (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER), Paul Campbell (NO HEROICS), Patrick Gallagher (GLEE), Colby Johannsen (REAPER), and has spent pilot season 2010 coaching actors in Los Angeles for both comedy and drama, including Allison Mack, Brandon Jay McClaren, Daniel Cudmore, Chiara Zanni, Sarah Power, Kerry James, and many more.
 
Matthew has forged careers and honed professionals in their craft - on set and in class - for over fifteen years, by giving actors the machinery necessary for success: clear directives, solid tools, and a fresh and profound acting technique. As an on set coach, he regularly works with high-caliber actors such as Rufus Sewell, Kurt Russell, Peter Krause, Maria Bello, and many more.
